Retrospective


Since we opened our doors in January 2005 we’ve regularly featured in the national and local press; had a number of well-attended shop events and enjoyed extensive coverage of our very successful ”Meet the Author” season which, over the last 18 months, has featured such high profile names as Sheila Hancock, Kate Adie, Melvyn Bragg, Jeremy Paxman and Alan Titchmarsh . We’ve now archived all of this coverage in the three sections below.

We are always very keen to collaborate with local clubs, societies and arts organisations as well as educational institutions to arrange joint events and other initiatives. We have already worked very productively with BArts, Broxbourne Leisure Services and the Hoddesdon branch of Hertfordshire County Library Service.

Summer Season

Two years ago books @ Hoddesdon’s customers helped make our Love Your Local Bookshop such a success that it has subsequently adopted by the Bookseller’s Association of Great Britain as the theme for a campaign to support all independent bookshops.

 
Shop Events
Harry Potter Weekend Celebration
2nd August 2007

Potter fans descended on Hoddesdon in their hundreds on Friday night in order to be first to get their hands on their copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows at the witching hour. They started arriving from 10.30pm to find Café Nero with a special late night opening to dispense coffees plus an entertaining Harry Potter prize quiz run by us which kept everyone focused during the run-up to the launch.  Many people had entered into the spirit of the occasion and came in full fancy dress.
