At another packed event last autumn, again co-produced with Broxbourne Arts, nearly 450 people listened with great interest to Kate Adie, one of our best known and most respected journalists. She talked about the history and current legal and social status of children who have no parents who were featured in her new book Nobody’s Child. After answering a number of questions posed by the audience in considerable depth Kate went on to sign copies of her books whilst chatting informally to members of the audience.
Once again the event was advertised in all the local newspapers, received short previews pieces with photographs in the key papers and appeared in local events listings. Softer Side of Battle-Hardened Kate was the headline for the full page report which appeared the following week in the Mercury What’s On Magazinewhich concluded: “The evening… proved to be an insightful, crammed snapshot of the plight of abandoned children and was delivered in Ms Adie’s inimitable style.” |
