Bill Bryson
5th June 2007

On Tuesday 5th June we were incredibly lucky to get the UK’s best known, bestselling and most hilarious travel writer BILL BRYSON to visit at Broxbourne Civic Hall in one of only two UK personal appearances to celebrate the paperback publication of his autobiography: The Life And Times Of The Thunderbolt Kid. Bill started with a impassioned appeal to the sell out audience of over 500  to continue to support us as their local independent bookshop since so many communities across the UK have seen their local booksellers close down. He went on to delight everyone with a wealth of warm and witty observations about the British national character and sense of humour as well as reading from his new book and his original best seller Notes from a Small Island.

Previews with photos appeared in both The Mercury and The Herald, with an exclusive interview appearing in the former revealing how the famous writer’s favourite travel destination was actually returning home to his family.
